Dallas police are looking for a driver who struck a woman on Tuesday in east Oak Cliff, killing her.

The incident began with a shooting, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. At about 1:45 a.m. on September 13, a man and a woman were arguing in the 800 block of South Denley Drive, near Morrell Avenue, when an acquaintance of the woman walked over.

The man allegedly took out a gun and began shooting. He then entered a black 2017-2018 Hyundai and drove away from the scene, knocking over a female bystander, who was standing on the sidewalk, as he sped off.

Dallas Police said in a news release that the man failed to stop after hitting the woman. She was taken to the hospital for treatment; however, she did not survive her injuries. Police did not release her name or age.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver. They say the front grill of the vehicle is missing, which should help with identifying the car.

Persons with information regarding the incident are encouraged to contact Detective Doris Smith at 214-671-0013 or [email protected].
