Dallas Police Chief Comeaux terminated three department employees during disciplinary hearings on May 29, including a sergeant charged with drunk driving while carrying a child passenger.
The firings highlight ongoing accountability challenges within the department as officials work to maintain public trust amid criminal charges against sworn and civilian personnel.
Sergeant Matthew Terry, badge number 8915, received the most serious charges among those terminated. The Central Patrol Division officer was dismissed for being untruthful to a supervisor and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Terry also faced arrest on May 2, 2025 for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, classified as a State Jail Felony. The 19-year veteran had served since September 2006.
Two civilian employees lost their positions over food stamp fraud allegations exceeding $200. Research Specialist Patsy Evans from the Operational Technology Unit was terminated for Unlawful Food Stamp Use, a third-degree felony.
Evans had worked for the department since September 2012. Supervisor Sheri Brown from the Records Unit faced identical charges and termination after more than two decades of service.
Brown joined the department in April 2004, making her the longest-tenured employee among those dismissed. The food stamp violations represent third-degree felonies under Texas law.
The terminations span both sworn officers and civilian staff across multiple department divisions. Chief Comeaux’s decisions reflect the department’s zero-tolerance approach toward criminal conduct by employees.
