A Dallas police officer was arrested Saturday in Lancaster on a disorderly conduct charge.

Officer John Rozell, 34, of the Dallas Police Department was arrested by Lancaster police officers after they responded to a disturbance call in the 1400 block of North Interstate 35E, near Parkerville Road, at around 2:30 a.m.

Rozell had reportedly been engaged in a “heated argument” with an individual in a parking lot, according to The Dallas Morning News. During the altercation, he allegedly went to his vehicle and grabbed a semi-automatic rifle. Lancaster police said a witness called 911 as Rozell apparently approached the other man while displaying the weapon.

The police officer was being held at the Tri-City Jail on July 23. It is unclear whether he had an attorney or his bail had been set.

Rozell joined the Dallas Police Department in April 2013. He is assigned to the South Central Patrol division. Dallas PD authorities said Rozzel had been placed on administrative leave ahead of his release, pending the findings of an internal investigation.

The Lancaster Police Department previously arrested Officer Rozell on charges of assault by strangulation/impeding breath and unlawful restraint on April 24, 2020.
