Dallas Express Alleged Death Threats Traced to Mr. Chris Reader in Dallas

The Dallas Express last week received a series of threats against its staff and their family members.

Data suggests that the death threats made on November 12 came from a DFW-based man named Mr. Chris Reader.

Reader may have had political motivations for the violent threats he allegedly made against the newspaper, publicly available data suggest.

A review of publicly available comments ostensibly from Reader indicate his views and a potential pathway to radicalization. Those comments and expressions include specific partisan political leanings, a hatred for former President Donald Trump, and an indication that those individuals who question the efficacy of the COVID vaccine are, according to him, spreaders of “misinformation.”

A Facebook page likely associated with Reader displays a banner that reads, “Disinformation is Deadly, Vaccines Save Lives.”

According to FEC records, Reader and members of his family are frequent donors to Democratic candidates in the state of Texas.

Below are some of the vulgar and violent threats made against persons associated with The Dallas Express.

“How badly do you want someone to hunt and slaughter you and your family?” Reader allegedly asked over email.

“You better protect your family with armed guards,” one threat read. Another message asked, “I wonder where your children sleep. What would you do if someone found out? Do you feel safe? Do you think they are safe?”

“You are going to die,” another email threatened, adding, “Your children, and all of those you hold dear, will die.”

Responding to an article identifying a rise in particular Dallas crime statistics, an email promised, “If you want to see an increase in crime: wait for me on Christmas Eve! If I don’t catch you and your beautiful family, maybe I’ll see y’all on New Year’s Day. Maybe on Valentine’s Day.”

A further email also appeared to make a broad-based threat against the publication’s entire staff, referencing an “armed shooter” coming to the office building floor on which its employees work.

Replying to a different newsletter reporting on a parolee who recently shot two hospital employees in Dallas, an email read, “I wonder how you would handle a violent parolee with a gun in your building … would it be more concerning if an armed shooter was on [your] floor?”

A police investigation is ongoing.

The Dallas Express takes threats against the free press seriously and will never turn away from reporting on serious issues with a fact-based, non-partisan perspective.

Isn’t it funny that it’s the leftists that ruin learning institutions, sports, history, and media. Not to mention burning down cities and attacking police officers! They are violent and ignorant and therefore dangerous.

Don’t care what Party it is. Stop threatening people. Who would want anyone slaughtered, we are always using God’s name but uses violence to justify crime against each other. Human Right means nothing, we feel like we have the right to kill people who speak out against someone else view’s. Dallas Express love your commentaries.

It allows people the right to stay in touch
      with what’s happening.

Agreed. Its dangerous when people start categorizing behaviors such as these into parties. The Party doesn’t matter at this point when it comes to such behavior. Killing others due to opposing views or self interests is a problem on a greater scale. The government does it all the time…. We need to focus more on basic human rights as you suggested and really understanding how others are affected, because even human rights is now political……

        Nevertheless, knowledge is power.

And are just like the extremists that stormed the Capitol and tried to stop our government from validation the electoral college. Extremists are extremists. Let’s not split hairs over their political views.

The FBI informant heavily infiltrated (per recently revealed Oathkeeper court documents) Capital stormers who were invited into the Capitol as indicated by video evidence?

Why did Wray tell congress the FBI was unaware of anything coming down with all of those informants in place?

Informants working for the same FBI that fed you Trump-Russia lies for three years as indicated conclusively in Durham prosecution court documents?

BTW, Chris Wray has announced a 35,000 member all hands FBI meeting in January. Is he going to resign ahead of GOP House oversight into his FBI?

Glad I could alleviate your unfortunate reality deficit. It really is difficult to keep up.

You know psychologist have a word for your way of thinking called “projection”! It is when you do, and say things about yourself, but convince yourself you are talking about someone else. Maybe you should look in the mirror when you say such things, and realize you are actually referring to the far right!

Unfortunately, these messages contain plausible deniability. They are neither indications that he intends to carry out the actions nor calls for another person to carry out such an action. It’s sickening though. Keep up the great work!

Have to agree with above and add that, as disturbing as this behavior is, I’m not real sure that outing someone like this is the best solution. Seems like it would be best to let the police deal with it and maybe report that he was arrested and on what charges rather than throwing fuel on a fire.

I’m wondering if “Mr Chris Reader” is an alias. Regardless, he/she is a very badly informed and dangerous person. Threats of this kind should be vigorously prosecuted! Are you paying attention, Mr. Cruezot?

It’s a sad state of our culture when we choose violence over civil discussion. We can’t even participate in the same media platforms without calling for the “other side” to be muted or worse. Be the change you want to see in others. It has to start somewhere.

This is my first time reading the Dallas Express, and I do not want to take away from the issue at hand, which is that a sick individual threatened the lives of others. That was unacceptable and it should be handled by law officials accordingly.

But another concern I have is that through reading the comments, I see that it’s clear most of the readers are Republicans. Is it not also concerning about how “non-biased” the paper claims to be, and yet it’s fan based is one-sided.

How can information be trusted to be true if it’s leaning towards only one political party?

Now as I mentioned, I’ve just started reading these publications, so I could be wrong, but I am going to be mindful of the writer now and if they have a political agenda, which I hope others will too. I believe many of you will find that a true, factual paper has views that align with both parties because neither party is always completely right or wrong.

Now as aforementioned, the issue that needs to be addressed is the person making threats. His party does not matter to me because there are wrong doers on both sides. To handle issues like these, people need to realize that when they start believing that only their opinions are correct and that they are apart of the “superior” party, their actions may become dangerous. The goal is to be able to see both sides.

Pre-emptive action needs to be done. Freedom of speech is allowed. But outright deadly threats will need to be dealt with. If nothing more, full psychiatric evaluation and monitoring. In addition, guns may need to be removed from residence/possession.
