The Dallas Police Department responded to an assault call on Sunday. Soon after, the suspect died in custody.
Dallas police officers responded to a “criminal assault in progress” on July 13, according to a press release. They arrested the suspect, who died on the way to receive medical treatment.
Police arrived at the scene near 5600 Lemmon Ave. – just southeast of Dallas Love Field – at 3:55 p.m., where they discovered that the suspect had allegedly robbed someone in the parking lot.
“When officers arrived, they arrested the suspect,” the release reads. The suspect died on the way to the hospital.
Officials “notified” the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, which will conduct its “own investigation” into the incident, according to the release. They also notified the city’s Office of Community Police Oversight, which responded to the scene.
The Dallas Express requested more information from the department, such as the suspect’s identity, but Lt. Tramese Jones stated that the release contains all the information available to the public.
