On May 5, a child was fatally shot in the neck by a man playing with a firearm in southeast Oak Cliff.
The Dallas Morning News reported that the shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of Fatima Avenue, near South Lancaster Road.
According to authorities, Andre Sharp, 29, allegedly aimed a .38 revolver at an 11-year-old child, pulling the trigger each time he aimed the firearm at the victim. The number of times the trigger was pulled before the child was struck is unknown.
At this time, it is unclear what the child’s relationship was with Sharp.
Sharp remained at the scene when officers arrived and surrendered the handgun to officers.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a murder charge.
