A 10-month-old child who was admitted to a hospital in Fort Worth after allegedly being abused is dead, according to police.

Saginaw Police said that they were alerted to a child admitted at Cook Children’s Medical Center with internal and external injuries. The child was placed on life support as he had sustained injuries, including bruises and head trauma.

Six days later, on October 7, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him on October 10 as Amonte Kyson Harris.

Officials said that the state of the child led them to believe he had been abused by his mother’s 22-year-old boyfriend, Dennilson Alejandro Uk, who was subsequently charged with serious bodily injury to a child.

However, with the child’s death, charges against Uk could be upgraded. The upgraded charges will be determined by autopsy results, which police said are pending.

Uk is not Harris’ biological father, nor is he related to the child by blood, according to officials.

Police noted they will not be charging Harris’ mother with any crime as she is being cooperative with investigators.

Further details of the case are not known as the investigation is ongoing.
