(Texas Scorecard) – Another Texas teacher has been charged with possessing “a large quantity” of child sexual abuse materials, commonly called child pornography.
Carl David Innmon, a 50-year-old fifth-grade teacher in Austin Independent School District, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possessing more than 50 images or videos of child pornography—a first-degree felony.
Innmon taught sign language at Baranoff Elementary School.
District officials said Innmon was in his first year of teaching at the school and was placed on administrative leave on March 11, when the district’s police department was advised about an investigation into the teacher.
The Texas Department of Public Safety was reportedly investigating suspects using BitTorrent to share images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.
According to court documents, between December 29, 2024, and January 15, 2025, a total of 126 files were downloaded from Innmon’s computer.
Innmon allegedly admitted to authorities during a search of his home that he downloaded child pornography.
Investigators stated that the teacher’s electronic devices contained multiple files of young children being sexually abused by an adult man, including one video involving an infant girl.
Innmon is being held on a $75,000 bond.
State records show Innmon does not hold a Texas teaching certificate. He is not currently listed in the Do Not Hire Registry of individuals ineligible to work in a public school.
Innmon is among hundreds of Texas teachers in just the past few years who have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children—including possessing, producing, and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Earlier this month, a La Porte ISD elementary school teacher was charged with three first-degree felony counts of possessing child pornography after authorities found he had downloaded dozens of videos depicting young children being sexually assaulted.
Also this month, an Eanes ISD elementary school teacher was arrested on three counts of possessing more than 50 images of child pornography.
