Larry Dewayne Reed received a life sentence for killing three people in an Arlington apartment complex shooting last year.
The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to capital murder in the January 2024 attack, Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells announced.
“Thanks to the Arlington Police Department for their work on this case and for their commitment to keeping our community safe,” Sorrells said in a Facebook post.
Reed faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Authorities arrested him on February 6, 2024, after U.S. Marshals located him in Greenville, Mississippi.
The murders took place on January 25, 2024, at the Chatham Green Village apartment complex, where Reed fatally shot 29-year-old Shannen Jones, 29-year-old Monique Smith, and 31-year-old Dreyon Glenn.
The incident happened six weeks after Reed completed a state prison term for the previous murder of 18-year-old Obeth Hernandez.
An arrest warrant affidavit cited a witness who identified Reed, also known as “Crip.” The witness told police that Reed knew Glenn and that high-risk drug activity might have played a role.
Investigators determined Reed first shot Glenn before firing at others inside the apartment. Two children present escaped without physical injury.
