Fort Worth police arrested a man after an argument turned fatal in the early hours of Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of his girlfriend.

Police arrested Tyrece Fields, 30, for allegedly murdering his 20-year-old girlfriend Irreana Powe June 24, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Dallas Express. Officers responded to a shooting in the Woodhaven neighborhood, where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She later died at the scene.

Fort Worth police were notified of a shooting at 6112 Sparrow Wood Lane at 1:36 a.m., according to the warrant. When officers arrived, they found a woman “with a gunshot wound” lying on the floor of an apartment. Medics tried to save her, according to a release, but she ultimately died. She was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m., per the warrant.

After a detective arrived at the scene, a neighbor shared Ring doorbell footage showing Powe and “a Black male with dread-lock style hair arguing” at 1:28 a.m.

“A few minutes after that argument, residents heard a gunshot,” the warrant reads. “Approximately 60-90 seconds later they heard a man yelling for help.”

When witnesses arrived at the apartment, they found Powe on the floor and a “male resident” in a white shirt and gray sweatpants “standing near the door.” They were the only ones in the apartment.

Neighbors called 911 and tried to help Powe, who was “still breathing at that time.”

“The male made no attempt to call 911, and left the scene when he knew police were on the way,” the warrant reads. He drove away in a small white Ford SUV, which was captured on video.

The police database showed Powe had a “potential boyfriend” — Fields, who goes by the nickname “Chicago.” Powe’s relative arrived at the scene and told the detective that a man he knew only as “Chicago” had called at 4 a.m. and said “she gone, she gone” and “Irreana dead.”

A witness said Fields was known for being “violent” toward Powe and often stayed at a house on Bong Street in Fort Worth. Officers drove to the area and found a white Ford Escape matching the vehicle that left the scene.

“A short while later, Tyrece walked out of Bong St. toward an unmarked police car with his hands raised in the air,” the warrant reads. “He was arrested on an outstanding Dallas PD warrant.”

Fields declined to tell detectives where he was the night of the shooting, according to the warrant. A judge signed the homicide arrest warrant on June 24.

As of publication, Fields had not entered a plea. His bond amount and court date have not yet been announced.
