(Texas Scorecard) – An elementary teacher in Allen Independent School District has been charged with multiple child sex crimes involving students.
Austin Douglas White, 29, was indicted on four counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
White taught at Preston Elementary School.
In October 2024, Allen ISD notified families that White had “potentially engaged in inappropriate communication/conduct with a student” at Curtis Middle School.
The district placed White on “indefinite administrative leave” and notified authorities of the allegations.
Other students then reportedly came forward with similar allegations against White.
A Collin County grand jury indicted White on June 19. Court records show the offenses occurred in September 2024.
White was booked into the Collin County Jail on June 26 and is being held on a total of $280,000 in bonds—$70,000 for each charge.
He is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.
White no longer works for Allen ISD. He began working for the district in 2021 as an educational aide before becoming a teacher in 2022. Parents say he was also a volunteer coach with the Allen Sports Association.
The Allen Police Department is continuing to investigate.
State records show White was first certified as an educational aide in 2020. He permanently surrendered his classroom certificate in December 2024 and was placed on the Do Not Hire Registry.
A permanent surrender of a certificate “occurs as a result of an educator’s voluntary relinquishment of a certificate in lieu of disciplinary proceedings, and renders that certificate permanently invalid without the opportunity to reapply for a new certificate,” according to the Texas Education Agency website.
White is the latest in a series of sex crime suspects in Allen ISD.
In April 2024, Allen High School science teacher Albert Najera was placed on “indefinite administrative leave” over allegations of an “inappropriate” relationship with a student. In November 2024, Najera permanently surrendered his teaching certificate and was placed on the Do Not Hire Registry.
In February of this year, Jason Giuliani, a contract custodian at Curtis Middle School, was arrested after attempting to solicit an underage girl during an online sex trafficking sting.
In March, Allen ISD notified families that Curtis Middle School teacher Trey Stolp was placed on administrative leave following allegations he engaged in “inappropriate communication” with middle school students. Stolp—an Allen ISD 2021 Teacher of the Year—is still listed in the school’s staff directory, but his teaching certificate is under review by the TEA.
Also in March, Tiller Reed, a security monitor at the district’s Lowery Freshman Center was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor.
Hundreds of Texas teachers and school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years.
Thousands of educator sexual misconduct complaints have been reported to the state since the TEA began keeping organized records in 2021.
