Former NFL linebacker Myles Jack, who co-owns a minor league hockey team, was arrested on a felony gun charge after police said he fired shots inside his suburban Dallas home and fell from a second-story window while trying to leave.
Frisco police responded to a welfare check around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 2400 block of Haft River Road, inside the gated Hills of Kingswood community in Frisco. Officers heard gunshots from inside the home upon arrival, prompting them to set up a perimeter and evacuate several nearby residences.
Authorities said a second-story window broke during the incident, and Jack, 30, climbed out of it before falling to the ground. He was taken into custody at 7:12 a.m. and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries from the fall.
A search of the home found no other individuals inside.
Jack faces charges of deadly conduct — discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities, a Class A misdemeanor. He was booked into the Denton County Jail. Police have not disclosed what prompted the welfare check and said the investigation is ongoing.
Jack played college football at UCLA before being drafted in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. He spent seven seasons in the NFL, including time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, before retiring. In 2023, he became the majority owner of the Allen Americans, an ECHL team affiliated with the NHL and based in Collin County.
The Allen Americans have not commented on the arrest. FOX 4 reported that Jack’s mother, a co-owner of the team, plans to issue a statement but has not yet done so.
