65-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Northeast Dallas

The Dallas Police Department said a 65-year-old man was found fatally shot on May 17.

Officers responded to the 6700 block of Eastridge Drive near Skillman Street at approximately 5 a.m. after someone called about seeing a body on the sidewalk.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the victim, Joseph Syas, lying on the sidewalk. Dallas police said Syas had suffered a gunshot wound to the face.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police said they are working to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Dallas police did not reveal if there was any person of interest, and no arrest has been made.

However, authorities are asking anyone with information that might help the investigation into the homicide to call Detective Abel Lopez at 214-671-3676 or email [email protected].

Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest and indictment in the homicide.
