A 19-year-old Garland woman is said to have stabbed and killed her mother’s boyfriend on Tuesday. She told Garland police she was acting in self-defense.

At around 3 a.m. on July 19, the young woman called 911 from an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Apollo Road.

She told the dispatcher that her mother’s boyfriend, Tyrone Moody Henderson, had attacked her and other family members, and she had stabbed him in self-defense.

Henderson was taken to a hospital and died there.

Nothing is known yet of the teen, whom police have not yet identified.

Officials have released little information about the stabbing victim, however, Dallas County public court and arrest records for 46-year-old Tyrone Moody Henderson reveal numerous charges of drug possession, possession with intent to distribute, and evading arrest.

Police have not yet made any arrests, as the claim of self-defense is still being investigated.
