16-year-old Found Dead in Local Creek

6:00 P.M.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday afternoon that the body discovered in Grand Prairie yesterday was Kayla Kelley.

The cause of death was not listed, but said the body was found in a wooded area in a “clandestine grave.”

Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner released a statement thanking deputies and Texas Rangers for finding Kelley’s body.

“As this is an ongoing homicide investigation, details outside what may be contained within an investigator’s search or arrest affidavit will not yet be released.”

12:00 P.M.

Dallas police found the body of a 16-year-old female in Oak Cliff Creek on Monday morning.

The girl’s body was found around 10:05 a.m. in the 1700 block of Brookhaven Drive. She died due to multiple gunshot wounds, according to officials from the Dallas Police Department.

The victim has reportedly been identified as Venus Rodriguez. An investigation into the shooting is currently underway, but the police do not have a suspect as of the time of this report.
