A 13-year-old has been charged with manslaughter after the shooting death of another teen, according to Dallas police.

DPD officers and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a shooting call in the 3000 block of Kiestridge Street in the city’s southwest section around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday. At the scene, they found a 15-year-old teen with a gunshot wound to the head.

The 13-year-old, now charged with manslaughter, reportedly told police at the scene that the victim shot himself.

After reviewing evidence, investigators alleged the younger teen found a gun and pulled the trigger, believing the weapon to be empty. That gunshot killed the victim.

The Dallas Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Homicide Detective Brewster Billings at 214-671-3083 or by email at [email protected]. Please reference case number 107617-2022.
