A 10-year-old was hospitalized Wednesday after being shot while riding in a car with his father in southeast Dallas in a road rage incident.

Dallas Police Department said the boy was shot in the foot around 1 p.m. on August 10 near US 175 and South Beltline Road.

The father and son were exiting the highway when the alleged gunman shot at their vehicle. The father told WFAA, that the alleged gunman could not cut in front of his car. Irate, the gunman, “shot like three times,” the father said, adding   he did nothing to antagonize the driver and “didn’t even let [his] window down.”

The boy was shot in the foot. Police believe the bullet came through the bottom of the car before hitting the child. After the father realized his son was shot, he pulled into a convenience store parking lot and called 911. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are looking for the gunman, who has yet to be identified.

The southeast patrol division where this incident happened has been no stranger to road rage incidents recently. The metroplex has seen such a noticeable increase in such crimes that the DPD was prompted to send out more patrols for aggressive drivers.
