The Dallas Police Department opened an investigation this week in response to a shooting that left one person dead on Sunday.

The shooting occurred at a nightclub in the early hours of February 19, according to a news release from Dallas PD.

Officers responded to the call at around 2:20 a.m. in the 500 block of S. Riverfront Blvd. This is located in Dallas District 1, which is represented by Councilman Chad West.

Upon their arrival, police found that a male victim had been shot multiple times.

Officers conducted a preliminary investigation and discovered that an argument had apparently broken out between two men, including the victim. As the fighting escalated, the victim allegedly got in his car and drove it into the other man’s vehicle.

Per the press release, the other man, now behind the wheel of his car, allegedly took out a firearm and shot at the victim.

The victim was struck several times by bullets while inside his car, according to police. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his wounds.

The alleged shooter was taken into police custody, and the case will be referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury, per the press release.

Police have not announced the names of either of the men whose apparent late-night argument had fatal consequences.

District 1 has been the subject of The Dallas Express Crime Boss series many times over. West was awarded Crime Boss four different times last year and seems well on his way to repeating the dubious honor this year.

Last month a man’s body was found in the Trinity River, and police still have not been able to identify him. While it is unknown whether he was the victim of a crime, another body of a teenage girl found in Oak Cliff Creek was riddled with bullets. Police arrested Arturo Flores, the boyfriend of the victim, Venus Rodriguez, in connection with this killing.

The violent crime rate, however, is not just up in District 1 but also across the city. There have been 1,501 violent crimes logged so far this year by Dallas PD, showing an over-6% increase year-over-year from 1,407.

Let him go. Someone deliberately crashing a car into you is deadly force and responding with deadly force is reasonable.

exactly. A person who would use a vehicle against another person , when they know they are in no danger and could just drive away, but instead tries to use their car as a deadly weapon against that other person needs to be stopped before they kill that person with their vehicle.

I notice the race of the shooter and his victim are not mentioned. the indicates that both were black. In these cases, the shooter and victim are ALWAYS black. Probably fighting over some flipskirt and too stupid to understand that there’s a bar full of them and it’s just not worth it.
EMO punks not grown up enough to realize that a gun isn’t going to solve their problems and far too childish to control their emotions.

Amazing how the Mayor of Dallas lies in his public emails stating that crime in Dallas as decreased and how the city is classified as a safe city to live in. I read about more murders and crime happening quite often.
