A water main burst Tuesday morning on Interstate 35E service road near Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. Commuters using the service road were not severely affected by the break.
City crews were dispatched to the scene, arriving around 8:15 a.m. They immediately began working to isolate the break.
“Dallas Water Utilities [DWU] crews are currently working a water main break at 7300 N. Stemmons Fwy.,” Estela Ornelas, a spokesperson for the City, confirmed to The Dallas Express.
The far-right southbound lane of the service road remained closed while crews worked to repair the break. Traffic on the service road slowed but remained continuous.
City workers at the scene told The Dallas Express that repairing the water main break may take several hours.
Ornelas also told The Dallas Express that a nearby apartment complex was impacted but did not provide further details.
“DWU field staff have notified the maintenance staff at the apartment complex. DWU crews are working to restore water service to the impacted business as soon as possible,” Ornelas said.
“It is anticipated the repairs may take between 6-8 hours. DWU closed the right southbound lane on the service road before W. Mockingbird on N. Stemmons Freeway.”
