The Mesquite Police Department said it arrested two people, including a minor, in connection to a fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man on Thursday, Sept. 30.

Officers of the Mesquite PD responded to a shooting call at around 10 p.m on Thursday in the 3600 block of Interstate 30 Frontage Road, near Motley Drive. Officers found a man who had been shot multiple times.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Dante Villarreal. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mesquite PD said it had arrested Jeremiah Jackson, 18, and a juvenile male in connection to Villarreal’s shooting. According to Mesquite PD, both individuals now face murder charges. Jackson is currently being held in a Dallas County Jail, and his bail has been set at $750,000.

Mesquite police did not reveal the age of the juvenile suspect. Those under the age of seventeen accused of crimes in Texas are tried in juvenile courts. However, those who are fourteen and older can be tried as an adult if a juvenile court judge deems it fit after a hearing.
