City officials in DeSoto said one man died and another in critical condition after both men shot at each other on Friday, November 5.

DeSoto Police responded to a shooting call at the home in the 700 block of Eldorado Drive, near South Polk Street and East Parkerville Road. Officers found two men at the house unresponsive around 6:20 am on Friday.

DeSoto police found 22-year-old Kristian Tyerone Smith lying on the pavement outside. Police said Smith is in critical condition. Police also found Wendon Lekeith Blair, 25, inside the home. Officials said Blair was later pronounced dead.

DeSoto police believe the two men had exchanged gunfire when they got into a fight over a woman at a gathering in a home.

According to city officials, Smith came to the door asking to see the woman. Smith shot Blair after he was refused entry into the home. Blair shot back and critically injured Smith before he died.

DeSoto police said the incident did not pose any threat to the community. Authorities did not release information concerning the purpose of the gathering.
