Two 17-year-old Dallas teenagers are now facing capital murder charges in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy found in the alleyway of an East Oak Cliff neighborhood on March 13.
Two weeks following the incident, the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Andrew Gallegos in connection with the death of Adam Gutierrez. On Sunday, May 4, a second teen, Juan Saucedo, was also arrested and charged with murder.
According to arrest affidavits cited by Fox 4 KDFW, the three teens had been friends until they had a falling out in February. Gallegos told investigators that the murder was in retaliation for Gutierrez allegedly stealing a gun that belonged to Saucedo. Gallegos claimed that Saucedo offered him $200 to help rob Gutierrez.
After Gallegos rejected a plan to help Saucedo sneak a knife into Molina High School, where all three teens attended, the pair decided to lure Gutierrez to a home on Exeter Avenue on the pretense of wanting to buy a THC vape pen from the 14-year-old.
Gutierrez and three females drove to the home, and Gutierrez received a text message to go to the door of the house. Soon after, the three females heard gunshots and left the area. Gutierrez was later found dead in the alley behind the home, and the jewelry and clothing that he had been wearing were missing.
Gallegos reportedly told police that Saucedo had a tactical shotgun and was the one who shot Gutierrez, striking him in the abdomen. Saucedo allegedly dragged the victim’s body into the alley and stole his clothes and jewelry.
Both murder suspects were booked into the Dallas County Jail. Gallegos’ bond was set at $1 million, and Saucedo’s bond was set at $500,000.
