Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress invited former President Donald Trump to one of the largest Southern Baptist churches in North Texas, First Baptist Dallas, on Sunday. Trump delivered a Christmas message to approximately four thousand attendees while in town with Bill O’Reilly, former Fox News host, for a nationwide tour.

While at the church, Trump spoke about inflation, border control, immigration, and the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. According to The Texas Tribune, he referred to the Biden administration’s withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan as “the most embarrassing day in the history of our country.”

“There are a lot of clouds hanging over our country right now, dark clouds… we will come back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. I’m telling you that,” Trump said.

After his ten-minute speech on those topics, Trump delivered a brief Christmas message, “off-script and from the heart.”

According to CBS DFW, Kerry Stuvar was among the attendees at the service. Stuvar stated, “I think he represents our country well. I think he represents Christianity well.”

In Trump’s message, he said, “Our country needs a savior right now. And our country has a savior. And it’s not me. It’s somebody much higher up than me. Much higher… the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ forever changed the world… It’s impossible to think of the life of our own country without the influence of his example and his teaching.”

Trump also thanked the police and military for their continued service.

A.J. Mason, who heard Trump speak, said, “We need somebody that’s going to stand with us, that’s going to support us, that we feel is going to take a stand against what’s happening, what’s going on currently in the United States.”

Jeffress stated, “I can say this without any dispute at all: He is the most pro-life, pro-religious liberty, pro-Israel president in the history of the United States of America.”

Jeffress also spoke in regards to Trump’s speech at the church saying, “I think his overall theme that our country is not where we’d like to see it is something that many Christians and non-Christians can agree with.”
