Texas Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, recently announced funding provided for the Dallas airports on his congressional website.

As a part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, $16.3 million will go to Dallas Lovefield, and the DFW Airport will get $63.8 million. For the fiscal year 2022, Texas will obtain $241.5 million for all its airports. The funding is the second-largest total for any state.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has given us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build safer and more sustainable airports that connect individuals to jobs and communities to the world.,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “With this new funding, urban, regional and rural airports across the country now can get to work on projects that have waited for years, modernizing their infrastructure and building a better America.”

Buttigieg is hoping that the funding will uplift outdated airports and create opportunities for jobs. The new renovations will allow airports to be technologically equipped along with the present-day.

Allred said he supports the funding.

“Our airports are the economic engines that power job creation and growth here in North Texas and that’s why I was a strong supporter of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the substantial investments this will make across our region,” he said. “These funds will help our airports expand and help improve services across the board. I look forward to working with our airports and our many other transportation-related agencies as this law is implemented and funds continue to move out the door.”
