An unidentified man, who may be in distress, according to police, climbed onto a construction crane early Monday in West Dallas and has remained there throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

Dallas police, SWAT, and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the call in the 1000 block of Singleton Boulevard at about 8 a.m., according to WFAA.

Police blocked off streets around the area in West Dallas while police worked to persuade the man to safely come down from his perch high above the street.

The Dallas Express contacted the Dallas Police Department for additional information about the incident and received a response from DPD spokesperson Kristin Lowman via email.

“SWAT is still on scene and negotiating with the individual,” Lowman told The Dallas Express. “There are SWAT members on the crane as well,” Lowman said.

A video posted on social media shows the man sitting, and at times walking, on the crane.

According to one social media post, a second person could be seen trying to speak to the unidentified man. Another video shows a bag being hoisted to the top of the crane.

“Gentleman still on the crane and has walked to the very end of the crane. Looks like he is drinking some sort of beverage that the officers gave him,” the post read.

One user commented Monday afternoon that they couldn’t believe how long this incident has continued.

“I’m watching this happen from my bedroom window,” the post read, “can’t believe he’s been there since 7 a.m.”

“Hope he comes down safely soon,” the user added, attaching a video of the ongoing incident.

More information will be made available as the story develops.
