U.S. Marshalls had to call in SWAT reinforcements to end a standoff with an armed man outside a hotel in West Dallas on February 11.

According to CBS 11 News, US Marshals stated they were at the Fairfield Suites on the 2100 block of N. Cockrell Hill Road when they heard a man and a woman arguing inside a vehicle.

The woman then emerged from the vehicle and attempted to run away. However, the man came out and allegedly pointed a handgun in her direction. Authorities said he fired one shot.

U.S. Marshals said when they tried to intervene, the man turned around with the gun in his hand. The woman then ran back towards the man to stop officers from engaging with him.

The man and the woman ran into a vacant open field and refused to obey loud verbal commands to surrender from the Marshals, authorities said.

SWAT units were called to the scene to provide the Marshals with assistance. Upon arrival, both the woman and the man, who is regarded as a suspect, surrendered.

The surrender was without incident, authorities say.
