According to Mesquite police, they arrived at the 3900 block of Towne Crossing Boulevard after receiving a call about an assault. The suspect then fled the scene in a red SUV.

After officers attempted a traffic stop, he led police through Audelia Road and Forest Lane in Dallas around 2 p.m. At 2:11 p.m., the chase continued southbound on U.S. Route 75 at Interstate 635.

Eventually, at 2:14 p.m., the driver stopped on Hillcrest Road, north of Interstate 635, after he ran out of gas, according to officers.

The suspect exited his vehicle with his hands up, walked slowly toward the police, and got on his knees. He was then arrested.

The man faces charges for assault, family violence, evading arrest, and other outstanding warrants.

An investigation is ongoing.
