Dozens of bullets hit a family’s apartment home in Carrollton after it was targeted in what could be a case of mistaken identity.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 29, at around 1:30 a.m. at the Peters Colony Apartments in Carrollton. Arvin Rangani and his family were already fast asleep when gunshots erupted, with several bullets going through their apartment.

Nearly 40 bullet holes could be seen on walls in the family’s home, according to Fox 4 News.

“You can see it (the trail of bullet holes) kind of going to the neighbor’s up top, so, I mean, indiscriminate fire,” Rangani told FOX 4 in an interview. “They were just blasting and trying to empty it out.”

Some of the bullets almost hit Rangani’s 33-year-old cousin and 67-year-old uncle, with one shot barely missing the top of his cousin’s head.

“If he’s standing up, if he’s in any other position, it’s all over. He was in the one spot where he’s not getting hit,” Rangani said.

Rangani’s uncle was lying on a couch in the living room when the shots were fired. The sofa rests against the wall that the bullets came through.

A grateful Rangani noted that instead of the interview, he could be at either his uncle’s or cousin’s funeral.

“They are alive, and people move on with their lives. But it’s not okay. You know, we’re shook. Our whole family is,” Rangani said.

Following the incident, Rangani and his family are considering moving out of the apartment they have called home for the past 25 years. The family is confused and wants to know why their residence was targeted.

“They definitely were targeting this place, but it’s the wrong spot,” Rangani said.

The Carrollton Police Department, which is currently investigating the shooting, did not confirm the incident was a case of mistaken identity. However, detectives from the department revealed that they had no evidence that the family was targeted.

Authorities confirmed that they have some leads which they are not releasing. It is unclear how many shooters were involved in the shooting or what weapons were used.

We need to sop the guns sale. Anybody caught in public with a gun it is an automatic 20 years in jail.
