A shooting occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. Two groups of men at Cedar Springs Road and Maple Avenue were fighting at a pizza restaurant. Gunshots were fired by individuals from both of those groups.

According to Fox 4, a man, who had nothing to do with either of the two groups of men, was walking by and was shot in the head. He is now in critical condition at the hospital.

The other person who was shot is “expected to be okay” with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police “are working to track down the shooters,” Fox 4 mentions. They have also questioned the man who was shot in the leg, and are checking surveillance videos from businesses in the area where the shooting occurred.

According to CBS DFW, there have been recent withdrawals and closings of businesses in the entertainment district.

Matthew Tully, who owns a hair salon, just moved his salon out of Uptown Dallas after it stood there for the past twenty years. CBS DFW reports that “[Tully] says too much crime and unruly behavior that he’s recorded on video has forced him to leave. He says he’s been assaulted by aggressive panhandlers, and his clients have been harassed by them during the day.”

“On two occasions, I’ve had someone charge me in the salon threatening to kick my, you know what,” Tully stated.

Uptown resident, John Sellars, talks about a recent shooting by a man on McKinney Avenue. “I heard them myself, and it makes me nervous because obviously, I live here, so they either need to get more police out here to take care of this problem or shut the bars down early,” he said.

According to CBS DFW, the first nine months of 2021 are already at a higher rate for car burglaries, robberies, and assaults than all of last year.
