Severe weather will roll through North Texas on Friday and bring a chance of damaging winds, large hail, flooding, and even a few tornadoes.

Current forecasts show the storm system moving in from the west on Friday morning before possibly becoming strong to severe in the Metroplex on Friday afternoon to evening as a cold front moves through the region.

Isolated storms are also possible Thursday night into Friday morning in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said the storms should move east of the DFW area by Friday evening, leaving behind temperatures in the 50s.

The severe storm system is expected to cause thunderstorms in most of northeast Texas and parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas.

The weather service encourages residents to be on the lookout for severe thunderstorm watches and warnings. A severe thunderstorm watch means severe weather is likely to happen, while a warning means severe thunderstorms are happening at that time.

Several Dallas-area schools have moved their Friday-night football games to Thursday in anticipation of the bad weather after thunderstorms disrupted several of last Friday’s games.

Outside of Friday, the weather looks nice for North Texans this weekend, with daytime highs projected to be in the mid-70s to low 80s for Saturday and Sunday.
