Dallas International Film Festival launches a short film script competition in association with Torfoot Films and Event Horizon Films. The winner will receive a guaranteed production of their script and a big screen premiere at DIFF.

The “Script to Screen” competition will be developed, produced, and directed by the award-winning director of Torfoot Films, Jonathan Brownlee. Numerous production partners have been assembled including Event Horizon Films, IdeaMan, as well as legal partners PLLC, Litwin Law Group, The Law Office of Latoya L. Blakely.

Jonathan Brownlee mentions: “We had the opportunity to develop, produce and theatrically release the feature film, ‘Three Days in August,’ in a similar way a few years ago and I thought it would be exciting to do this again with a short film. Most screenplays never get produced, let alone get a World Premiere at a major film festival like DIFF. I’m looking forward to directing the winning script.”

Like previous Event Horizon Films competitions, this one will be judged by readers from the industry’s most influential agencies and management companies. Screenwriters will be able to gather opinions and insights from real experts who will critique their work.

The three big names in film production have teamed up to give a talented screenwriter the chance to bring his film to the big screen. The winner will receive writing credits and 10% of the net profit. The finalists will receive Star Passes to the Dallas International Film Festival 2021. Each submission will receive a comment from the judges.

The script must be 10 pages or less in length and the location must be unique to one place. Stories with a primarily adult cast are encouraged. The deadline is August 8, with an extended deadline of September 5.
