Dallas police arrested a 34-year-old man on murder charges after he was accused of fatally shooting another man during a road-rage incident on Thursday.

According to a report on the DPD Beat, Dallas police responded to a shooting call at S/B North Central Expressway Service Road at Forest Lane around 2:10 p.m.

Responding officers found the victim, a 37-year-old male, lying in the road with a gunshot wound. The Dallas Morning News identified the victim as Robert Fountain Jr.

Dallas police arrested Isaias Perez, a 34-year-old male, for allegedly shooting Fountain during the road rage incident.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Perez told detectives with the Homicide Unit of the Dallas Police Department during an interview that the victim shot at his car while they were driving away from an intersection.

According to the affidavit, Perez said he pursued Fountain in his car for about a mile and fatally shot him in retaliation.

Per the affidavit, Fountain stumbled out of his vehicle, a black pickup truck, while it was still in drive and fell on the road after he was shot. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

NBC 5 News spoke with some witnesses who were present at the scene. Merel Griffin said he told other bystanders to take a picture of the suspect’s license plates while hoping no one else would get hurt.

“I heard boom boom boom. So, I looked and I turned back around and I noticed he was laying on the ground. I saw him when he jumped out the truck,” Griffin told NBC 5 in an interview.

According to The DMN, Perez was booked into the Dallas County jail, and his bail has not been set.
