The Richardson Police Department is set to host its annual public safety expo on Saturday, Sept. 25, the department announced on its website. The expo is part of the department’s National Night Out community-building program.
According to the Richardson PD’s website, the National Night Out program is a year-long community-building campaign designed to generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, raise crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, grow police-community partnerships, and to let criminals know that the neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
The public safety expo will be held at the Richardson Civic Center Fountain Plaza located at 411 W. Arapaho Rd. on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. The department website said vendor and city services will provide safety and emergency preparedness information during the expo. Richardson PD is asking residents to join the department for a “free and fun family event.”
Richardson police said there will be police and fire department vehicles on display, along with demonstrations from the department’s K9 Unit and UAS (drone) Team. Kids can also meet Chase from Paw Patrol, Nat the National Night Out Knight, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Kids will also get a free animal balloon made. Shaved ice from Kona Ice will also be available for sale.
Richardson won first place among U.S. cities with a population of 100,000 to 299,000 participating in the National Night Out campaign in 2020.
