Dallas residents will want to keep an eye on the sky over Downtown Dallas during the last week of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, as Reunion Tower will light up in a celebratory display for every North Texas athlete who wins a gold medal.

At least 10 athletes with ties to North Texas are representing the U.S. at this year’s Olympics, including three from Dallas: Scottie Scheffler (Men’s Golf), David Johnston (Men’s Swimming), and Sha’Carri Richardson (Women’s Track and Field).

In addition, Jaedyn Shaw of Frisco (Women’s Soccer), Chiak Ogbogu of Coppell (Women’s Volleyball), Hezley Rivera of Plano (Women’s Gymnastics), Connor Prince of Burleson (Men’s Skeet Shooting), Austen Smith of Keller (Women’s Skeet Shooting), Sam Watson of Southlake (Sports Climbing), Vincent Hancock of Argyle, (Men’s Skeet Shooting), and Jasmine Moore of Grand Prairie (Women’s Track and Field) are all representing Team USA in their respective sports.

A Reunion Tower post on Instagram reads: “I love showing love to our #NorthTexas athletes 🇺🇸🤠 competing in the Summer 2024 Olympics! Every time one of them secures a 🏅Gold🏅 I’ll be celebrating with a special light show, so keep your eye out! -The Ball.”

On Sunday, the tower was lit up in honor of Scheffler’s gold medal win in Men’s Golf.

Earlier last week, the tower celebrated a fourth gold win by Hancock in individual Men’s Skeet Shooting. Hancock previously won gold medals in the same event in the 2008, 2012, and 2020 Olympic Games.

The 2024 Olympic competitions continue through August 11, providing more opportunities for North Texans to bring home the gold and for the Reunion Tower to light up the night.
