As part of its crime prevention efforts, the Dallas Police Department has deployed bait vehicles in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas. The area now has an electronic sign that warns residents and shoppers that bait cars are in the area.
Dallas Police, in a statement issued to NBC 5 News, explain that the deployment of bait cars is one of the many steps the department is taking to “proactively impact” auto theft offenses.
“We have officers in a uniformed extra patrols capacity, conducting and establishing Crimewatch meetings, and utilizing police technology,” the statement read.
Police also revealed that they had made auto theft and vehicle burglary arrests. However, they maintain they still have a lot of work to do.
Dallas Police further ensure residents that they are using every resource in their capacity to protect the property of residents and visitors in Dallas.
