The Dallas Police Department arrested two men on Thursday after opening an investigation into reports of stolen credit card information being used to buy gas.
Dallas police began the investigation on December 7 after the Financial Investigations Unit of the department was contacted by a representative of Quick Fuel gas station located in the 2600 block of Lombardy Lane.
The representative told police that two men were filling up their vehicle with diesel fuel purchased using stolen credit card information.
The Financial Crimes Unit requested that the Northwest Crime Response Team surveil the area around the gas station.
The response team reported to the Financial Crimes Unit the next day that a man was once again using stolen credit card information to pump fuel into his vehicle.
Officers followed the man as he left the gas station to the 5700 block of South Cockrell Hill Road, where he met another man.
Both men began pumping the diesel fuel from a tank attached to the bed of the pickup truck into another storage container.
Both were arrested by the officers and identified as Alvarez-Morales, 34, and Yunier Toledo, 47.
Dallas police searched the suspect’s vehicle and found multiple cards encoded with stolen credit card information from several victims. Detectives also confiscated 423 gallons of stolen diesel fuel.
Morales was charged with credit card abuse, a state felony, and fraudulent use of credit card information, a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $100,000.
Toledo was charged with violating the motor fuel tax requirement, and his bond was set at $10,000.
Dallas police revealed that both men could still face additional charges.
