The Dallas Police Department has arrested a suspect who allegedly shot and injured an individual during an argument.

Dallas police officers were called to a shooting scene around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, in the 1400 Block of Conner Drive. Responding officers were informed that the victim and the suspect had been in a verbal argument when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said detectives who were called to investigate the scene had to halt their investigation after it was revealed that the suspect was in one of the apartment units across the street.

According to Dallas police, there was a standoff that lasted several hours as officers tried to persuade the suspect to come out of the apartment.

The suspect came out of the apartment and was arrested by officers. The suspect has since been transported to Lew Sterrett Jail, where he is now facing a charge of aggravated assault.
