A press release announced the need for the public’s input regarding the Dallas Planning and Urban Design Department, ForwardDallas workshops, a Neighborhood Planning Listening Session, and the Redistricting Commission.

With the ideas, opinions, and input from community members, Dallas city leadership strives to make communities better in many areas.

The Dallas Planning and Urban Design Department (PUD) is in place for residents to gain information on areas within their community and allow input to improve the area where they live.

PUD offers services to residents who want to form a neighborhood association. The department provides training to guide residents on executing their plans, help them establish their particular association, and how to “navigate city services.”

On the website for Dallas City Hall, residents can gain insight by viewing where and what organizations are running in all Dallas communities.

If the community a resident lives in holds passion about a certain topic, they can propose and envision what should be added to the area by Urban Design. Click here for more information.

Dallas is offering community workshops along with ForwardDallas. All events will be held virtually. The meetings on December 7, December 14, and December 16 will be from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The workshop on Thursday, December 9 will be from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

“ForwardDallas Comprehensive Land Use Plan” is being updated, and the City of Dallas is calling upon residents to voice their ideas and concerns over “land uses that work and land uses that need to be changed,” as well as possible future plans to focus on.

The workshops will be available for residents to engage in conversations and discussions. Click here to register for the community workshops by ForwardDallas.

Residents can stay connected with the Dallas Planning and Urban Design Department updates by receiving text messages that convey information on area plans and ForwardDallas by signing up here.

PUD is holding a “Neighborhood Planning Listening Session” virtually, and residents can provide input and feedback on Wednesday, December 8, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Leaders of HOA and other neighborhood organizations can register as one of the thirty-five maximum people to be involved in the session.

Individuals can voice their opinions on “neighborhood planning and how the city can best partner with neighborhood organizations to take a fresh approach to land use at the neighborhood level.” To register for a spot in the Neighborhood Planning Listening Session on December 8, click here.

Input from the public in regards to the requirement of creating a Redistricting Commission, which according to the Dallas City Charter, must be done “every 10 years when the Census figures are released. The Redistricting Commission, appointed by the City Council, will recommend a districting plan based on population changes.”

The city is hoping to hear from residents. To be involved and provide input for the Redistricting Commission, click here.
