The observance of Hispanic Heritage Month is nearing, and the City of Dallas is looking forward to the commemoration.

From September 15 to October 15, Americans celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to honor the remarkable accomplishments and contributions of Hispanic-American leaders who have served as influential role models.

This annual observance originated as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson in 1968 and was extended to a 30-day period by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. On August 17, 1988, it was officially established into law.

This year’s theme for Hispanic Heritage Month is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.”

“Hispanic Heritage Month is just around the corner, celebrating the vibrant cultures and invaluable contributions of those with roots in Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Our city will come alive with festive events, rich traditions, and colorful showcases that honor this dynamic heritage. Join us as we embrace and celebrate the diversity that enriches the heart of Texas!” stated the City of Dallas’ website.

Here are just a few of the happenings the City of Dallas is inviting you to attend, as stated on the City’s webpage:
