A driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into two cars on Monday night at an intersection in Carrollton, leaving one dead and five injured, police said.

According to Carrollton police, a driver heading west at about 11:15 p.m. crashed into two cars after speeding through a red light at Old Denton and Trinity Mills roads, near the President George Bush Turnpike. Police said the impact killed a 21-year-old Carrollton man who was in one of the vehicles.

Police did not release the name of the person killed in the crash nor the 28-year-old driver who allegedly ran the red light.

According to police, five other people sustained injuries from the crash, including the driver. Some of the injuries were serious; however, all five are in stable conditions, police said.

Police say an investigation of the crash is ongoing. The department revealed they intend to charge the driver who caused the deadly collision.
