A multi-vehicle accident early Monday morning on I-30 left one driver dead and debris scattered across the roadway.

Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to the accident near the Dolphin Road exit in Dallas around 2 a.m., where Dallas Fire-Rescue had the two left lanes blocked for a major accident.

DCSO told The Dallas Express its deputies found a silver Chevy Malibu wrapped around the front of a white international box truck. The driver of the Malibu, 29-year-old Terence Rowe, was still inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A third vehicle involved in the wreck, a white Toyota Camry, was parked on the right shoulder. The driver was at the scene and able to speak with deputies.

Witnesses reported seeing a fourth vehicle, a navy blue or dark-colored GMC or Chevy truck, involved in the accident flee the scene and continue traveling eastbound on I-30, DCSO said.

Witnesses could not provide a license plate for the pickup truck.

The driver of the box truck exited the driver’s side of the vehicle and frantically walked around the scene, DCSO said. The driver then ran from the scene toward the intersection of the service road and Dolphin Road.

Deputies believe someone may have picked the driver up in a dark-colored sedan. Detectives are investigating and will identify the box truck driver as that information comes available.

A second incident occurred in the aftermath of the fatal accident.

As deputies continued working the overnight crash scene, traffic was diverted to Dolphin Road using flares, three marked Dallas County squad cars, and a Scorpion truck — a vehicle specifically designed to increase safety at crash sites.

Around 6:10 a.m., a Maroon GMC pickup truck broke through the line of exiting vehicles and drove past the flares, scorpion truck, and squad cars.

As the truck barreled toward the crash site, where deputies were still processing the scene on foot, several people tried signaling the driver to stop but were unsuccessful.

One DCSO deputy moved his squad car into the truck’s path to stop his progress. The pickup truck rammed the squad car and came to a stop.

The driver, 45-year-old David Orocio, was arrested for DWI, and no deputies sustained any injuries.

Orocio was transported to the hospital and will be booked into the Dallas County jail after discharge.
