Around 2 am Monday, a woman and her three children were rescued from a fire in their second-floor apartment.

Dallas firefighters arrived at the complex on Gannon Lane close to Interstate 20 and Highway 76 in Southern Dallas to find the apartment ablaze.

One woman from the apartment managed to get free, and neighbors came to her aid. She was sent to Parkland Hospital for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

Firefighters entered the burning apartment to rescue the three children. All under five years of age, the children are at Children’s Dallas for treatment. Reportedly, two are recuperating while one is in serious condition.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread, but there was heavy smoke and water damage to the apartment.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
