The attack occurred on March 25, 2025, when TPUSA Chapter President Paige Neumann and her secretary, Grace, were tabling on the UTD campus. According to Charlie Kirk, founder of TPUSA, “The attacker took a metal bike lock and slammed it against Paige’s head,” striking her with such force that it “completely shattered Paige’s phone.” Grace’s phone was also destroyed in the attack.
In one of the videos, the suspect is seen fleeing the scene.
Images shared in Kirk’s post show a person with long hair, wearing a helmet and pushing a bicycle, holding a U-shaped bike lock near a concrete wall on the UTD campus.
Another image captures the broader scene, with a crowd of students and tabling in the background, indicating a busy day on campus.
Collin County authorities identified the suspect as Liam Thanh Tam Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American man who uses the alias “Alyssa” and identifies as “Trans.” According to a post by journalist Andy Ngo on X, Nguyen’s Vietnamese name, Thanh Tam, is a male name.
Ngo reported that Nguyen has been arrested on suspicion of “two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony assault on an officer, felony attempting to take a weapon from an officer and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and two counts of criminal mischief.”
The assault has drawn significant attention online, with many condemning the violence and raising concerns about the safety of students expressing political views on campus.
Elon Musk, replying to Kirk’s post on X, stated, “The left is the party of violence and hate,” reflecting the polarized reactions to the incident.
Paige Neumann has filed a police report, and authorities are continuing their investigation.
The university has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
