A Dallas sushi restaurant has landed among the top contenders for America’s most distinguished restroom, competing against facilities from across the nation.
Tatsu, located at 3309 Elm Street, earned its spot as a finalist in the 2025 America’s Best Restroom contest with a lavatory that mirrors the restaurant’s Michelin-rated attention to detail.
The competition highlights how thoughtful restroom design can elevate the entire dining experience. Public voting continues until August 15 for the winner of this unique honor.
Every detail matters at Tatsu, including the restroom. From the crystal-clear mirrors to the polished fixtures, the spotless and elegant space echoes the meticulous care shown throughout the meal, according to Cintas.
The restaurant’s facilities feature sophisticated Toto toilets and walls adorned with vibrant koi fish artwork. This creates what judges describe as both elegant and whimsically calming.
Cintas organizes the national contest, now in its 24th year, to recognize exceptional cleanliness and design innovation. Winners receive national recognition, professional cleaning services, and a $2,500 facility services credit.
“For over two decades, this contest has honored businesses that understand the value of clean and memorable restroom experiences,” Emily Ramos noted.
This year’s nine finalists represent diverse venues, including park facilities, hotel lounges, bars, and rooftop establishments. The variety demonstrates how creative restroom design spans both urban and rural environments.
Still, the contest serves a broader purpose beyond individual recognition. Thoughtful public restroom design enhances visitor experiences and contributes to urban attractiveness and perceived safety standards.
The competition encourages nationwide improvements in communal facility quality and creativity. Past winners have featured everything from cutting-edge hygiene technology to elaborate themed decorations.
