A Dallas resident has claimed on social media that the Dallas Police Department seemed disinterested in allegations that a man attempted to steal their car.

This resident posted on the Ring Neighborhood application over the weekend to warn neighbors about a potential car theft, claiming that “4 men tried to steal” their car while at the Walgreens location on Cedar Springs Road.

The post included a description of the alleged thieves who were wearing “Ski Masks & Black Hoodies” while driving a Red Hyundai Elantra, with another woman near the area taking a picture of the alleged vehicle.

Many other members of the Neighbors application responded to the post, encouraging the original resident to file a report with the Dallas Police Department. However, the resident claimed that the department seemed uninterested in taking action.

“Please give that info to the police. Walgreens probably has cameras facing the parking lot too,” wrote one commenter.

“I already did, but it didn’t seem like the cop cared. So posting here too,” responded the original poster under that comment.

Another resident commented under the post, theorizing that there was something specific the alleged thieves were searching for.

“Is there something specific about the vehicle that would make it so attractive to roaming thieves in broad daylight? Wonder if you were followed there…” they wrote.

“At the police station, I met a former Marine whose truck was actually stolen about an hour before they tried to take mine. I gave him the information I had, and he was able to pull up an address linked to the red Elantra. I’m not sure what happened after that, but i know that the car was parked at the address registered to the vehicle and they live not too far from Cedar Springs,” responded the original poster.

Currently, there is no indication about whether police have followed up on this report, though vehicular theft has become a common complaint on the application as Dallas residents deal with ongoing concerns.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, many such posts have featured complaints from Dallas residents that the police do little to help manage the issues.

However, one resident recently posted to detail their experience with the department, writing that police officers eventually found their stolen vehicle and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.
