A man died and two other people went to the hospital after a driver struck a disabled vehicle on North Central Expressway in Dallas on Sunday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Royal Lane.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said a driver struck the disabled vehicle and pinned a man beneath the wreckage, according to WFAA.

Emergency responders transported a female passenger from that vehicle and the driver of the second vehicle to a hospital. Officials have not released their conditions.

Freeway closed for three hours

The crash forced authorities to close all northbound lanes for approximately three hours while crews treated the victims and cleared the scene. Police diverted drivers at Meadow Road.

Authorities later reopened the freeway.

Officials have not released the victim’s identity or announced what caused the second driver to strike the disabled vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
