Man in Custody for Allegedly Killing His Stepfather in Dallas Home

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Far North Dallas on March 4 after allegedly killing his stepfather.

The suspect, identified as Jaison Tharian, faces a murder charge for the death of 69-year-old Mathew Olapurayil, per The Dallas Morning News.

Around 1:20 p.m., Dallas Police arrived at the 14000 block of Peyton Drive, near Spring Valley and Coit Road, and spoke with Tharian’s mother.

She stated that when she went to move her car, her son locked her outside of the residence for 30 minutes.

Once the woman regained access to the home, she discovered Olapurayil unresponsive, and began attempting to revive him.

First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

According to the Dallas County Medical examiner’s office, the cause of death was blunt force trauma to his head and face. There were visible bruises and scratches on his hands as well.

It is also believed that he may have been choked due to marks on his neck. His clothing and ring are in the police’s possession for evidence.

Tharian remains in the Dallas County Jail with a bail of $250,000.
