Man Found Fatally Shot After Dallas Police Received Report of Body Dragged to Dumpster

Dallas Police found the body of a man who was shot in a dumpster near a south Dallas apartment building on Tuesday, November 2.    

According to a police news release, Dallas police officers were called to the 2900 block of Holmes Street, between Cedar Crest Boulevard and Al Lipscomb Way, at about 11 p.m. The caller reported that they saw somebody dragging a body from the apartment complex to a nearby dumpster.    

On arrival, responding officers found the body of a man in the dumpster covered with trash and tires, according to the police press release.  

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and saw that the victim had been shot multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  

According to the police news release, authorities identified the victim on Thursday as Leslie Glen Jones, 39. Dallas PD is asking anyone related to the victim or who knows him to contact detective Cody Clark at 469-849-3761 or [email protected]    

Detectives with the Dallas Police Department are still investigating the victim’s death. No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon, and police have not revealed if there is a person of interest. The motive behind the fatal shooting also remains unknown.    

The Dallas Police Department’s homicide unit asks anyone with information that might help their investigation of the victim’s death to call the police and refer to case number 199485-2021.
