A man was fatally shot after protecting his friend from another man outside of a bar in San Antonio.
Around 2 a.m. on February 20, a man approached a woman near a sports bar on the 2800 block of North Saint Mary’s Street as she was waiting for a ride from friends.
After she rejected his advances, he became angry and grabbed a gun from his vehicle before returning. He fired at least one shot into the air.
Two male friends of the woman arrived and charged at the suspect, who subsequently fired more shots, hitting one fatally and injuring the other.
One of the men was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition. The other victim died en route to the hospital.
The gunman was detained by the security guard and first responding officers at the scene and taken into custody.
