A man was seriously injured on Monday after unintentionally falling from an overpass in southeast Fort Worth.

Just after 5 a.m. on July 11, Fort Worth police were dispatched to an elevated bridge over Miller Avenue and Wilbarger Street after receiving a call that a man had jumped from it.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man lying on the roadway beneath the Wilbarger Street overpass.

The unidentified male was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and was reported as being in critical condition.

Police were informed by a witness who is a friend of the victim that the man did not purposefully jump but instead likely fell off the bridge by accident, with “alcohol consumption possibly [being] a contributing factor.”

The man’s identity has not been made public as of Friday, and his condition remains unknown.
